Description
Rare Jean Paul Gaultier Junior corset jacket from 1988, crafted in felted wool in a rich rust-brown / terracotta tone.
The jacket features a sharply sculpted, hourglass silhouette with curved corset-style seaming through the waist, one of the defining elements of Gaultier’s late-1980s tailoring. It is finished with black woven piping along the collar, front closure and hem, black ribbed cuffs, silver-tone buttons and contrasting navy blue triangular appliqué details placed across the front and back.
The fitted construction through the waist contrasts with the slightly fuller sleeves, creating the exaggerated feminine silhouette associated with Jean Paul Gaultier’s work during this period.
This design is documented as a Fall 1988 runway style, making it an especially collectible example from the Junior Gaultier archive. A black version of the same model is currently documented on 1stDibs as a Fall 1988 runway piece.
